Tweet The seven contestants for the Carnival Queen Show 2017 gave the public a peek of what is to be expected on 24 February 2017 with a Queen Show Pre-Show.The pre-show was held on Saturday, December 17th 2016 at the Arawak House of Culture in Roseau. The contestants vying for the Miss Dominica 2017 title are Karla Henry – Mahaut Sponsored by the Henry Group of Companies and Sign Man, Zethra Baron – Fond Se Jean, Gabrielle Abraham – Goodwill, Terisa Lewis – Bath Estate Sponsored by Step Up Nutrition & The Caribbean Association of Fire Fighters, Ketisha Joseph – Massacre, Esther Francis – Goodwill and Jade Romain – Gutter Village sponsored by the National Cooperative Credit Union. This year, the Queen Show Committee chaired by Romualda Hyacinth, included two new segments to the show; a business attire and promotion speech. “The show this year was a great success,” Hyacinth told Dominica Vibes in an interview after the evening’s proceedings.“I think everything was okay in relation to the new format that we had. I think the crowd really appreciated the new format and I think that it enhanced the show this year quite a bit,” Hyacinth said.Hyacinth noted that the Queen Show Committee changed the evening wear segment so as to create a bigger impact on the audience.“For the past years, you find the young ladies, even in the talent round, you have an idea of what is to come. Likewise, with the evening gown, some of them want to replicate the gown that they had chosen for the night of the pre-show, and on the night of the show you don’t get the wow factor, or the desired response from the audience,” Hyacinth explained. “So, we decided that we would change it this year to ‘elegantly casual wear’ and it looked like the crowd appreciated the change, and we thank them for that,” Hyacinth further stated. She noted that the committee will discuss at future meetings whether there will be a change in the scoring format to accommodate the new segments. The other segments were a minute talent, swimwear, elegantly casual rounds and short a conversation with the Master of Ceremony.– / 145 Share Sharecenter_img 972 Views   no discussions EntertainmentLocalNews Queen Show Pre-Show hailed a success by: Dominica Vibes News – December 19, 2016 Sharelast_img read more
