Ronald WaltonRonald A. Walton of Wellington, died Friday, June 29, 2018 at Via Christi – St. Francis in Wichita at the age of 81.Ronald was born the son of George and Nina (Johnson) Walton on Thursday, July 2, 1936 in Burden.On January 22, 1960, Ronald and Glenda Scott were united in marriage in Wellington. Together they celebrated nearly 54 years of marriage before her passing in 2014. Ronnie served in the US Army from 1954-1957, graduated from the NCO Academy and was Sergeant Reserve for five years in the Kansas National Guard from 1975-1981. After 30 years of service, Ronnie retired from USD 353 in Wellington as the Maintenance Director. He was blessed to see all five of his grandchildren go from daycare through high school and was particularly proud to have three graduate from college and move on to careers. Ronnie held various memberships and was a life member of the Wellington V.F.W Post 881, American Legion Post 90, AF & AM Masonic Lodge 150 of Wellington H6 and was a 45-year member of the York Rite Knights Temple. Survivors include his daughter, Ronda Walton of Coweta, Okla.; daughter, Wanda Keith and her husband Craig of Wellington; granddaughter, Vanessa Keith of Wichita; granddaughter, Katelyn Keith of Wichita; daughter, Tina Walton of Wellington; grandson, Aaron Norton and his wife Katie of Wellington; son, John Walton of Wellington; grandson, Jake Walton of Wichita; grandson, Jack Walton of Wellington; brother, Dale Walton of Franklin; sister-in-law, Marilyn Pendleton of Tonkawa, Okla.; sister-in-law, Debbie Allen and her husband Larry of Checotah, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Ruby Scott of Checotah, Okla.; brother-in-law, Nick Scott and his wife Jane of Checotah, Okla. along with many nieces, nephews and loyal friends made over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Nina Walton; wife, Glenda Walton, sisters: June Armstrong and Lois Martin, brothers: John Pringle, Donald Walton, George Walton, Jr., brothers-in-law: Donald Pendleton and Roger Scott and his father-in-law, Glenn Scott. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2018 with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.Funeral services for Ronald will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in the chapel of Cornejo | Day Funeral Home, Wellington. Interment will follow with Military Honors will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington.A memorial fund has been established in his loving memory to the Avenue of Flags.
